Our Story
Inspired by care. Driven by connection.
Good intentions deserve real outcomes.
We turn organisations' commitment to giving back into coordinated volunteering and meaningful community participation.
- Seamless delivery
- Human connection
- Evidenced contribution
Every meaningful initiative begins with an understanding of a problem worth solving.
For Care to Volunteer, that understanding came through years of experience within the care sector, where one important reality became increasingly clear: meeting someone's practical needs does not always address their need for human connection.
A conversation, a familiar face, a shared activity or simply having someone willing to listen can make a meaningful difference to someone's day. These everyday moments inspired a wider ambition.
What if we could make it easier for people to give their time, and turn organisations' commitment to communities into meaningful action?
That question became the foundation of Care to Volunteer.

Our origins
From experience to opportunity
The thinking behind Care to Volunteer was shaped by experience associated with River Garden Home Care, a care provider serving communities across London, Greater London and surrounding areas.
Experience within the care sector offered valuable insight into the importance of companionship, community participation and the relationships that support everyday wellbeing.
Care to Volunteer was developed as a distinct initiative, inspired by those experiences but with a broader purpose: to bring together organisations, volunteers and communities through meaningful opportunities to contribute.
Our ambition extends beyond any single care provider, geographical area or community group.
Our approach
Making volunteering easier
Many people want to contribute to their communities. Equally, many organisations want to encourage their employees and wider networks to participate in activities that make a positive difference.
Yet good intentions do not always translate into action.
Finding appropriate opportunities, preparing volunteers, coordinating participation and understanding the contribution made can present challenges.
Care to Volunteer was created to make that journey simpler.
Our purpose
Human connection at the heart
Our purpose is rooted in a simple belief: everyone deserves opportunities for connection, belonging and participation.
Loneliness and social isolation can affect people at different stages of life. Meaningful volunteering can help create opportunities for companionship, shared experiences and stronger community relationships.
We believe that giving time is one of the most valuable contributions a person can make.
Whether through conversation, companionship, shared interests or community activities, small moments of human connection can have lasting significance.
Responsible business
Beyond giving. Towards making a difference
Corporate social responsibility is often expressed through charitable donations, sponsorships and financial contributions. These have an important place in supporting communities.
But we believe social responsibility can go further. It becomes deeply meaningful when people themselves become part of the contribution.
When an employee gives their time to someone who feels isolated, shares a conversation with an older person, supports a community activity or helps another individual feel connected, the value extends beyond the hours volunteered.
There is a human experience behind that contribution. Someone has been heard, included, encouraged or simply reminded that they matter.
Money can support a cause. Human connection can bring that cause to life.
This belief is central to Care to Volunteer. We enable organisations to move beyond supporting communities from a distance towards enabling their people to participate meaningfully within them.
Social value
Social value that goes beyond numbers

For organisations, social value is increasingly an important part of responsible business, community engagement and long-term sustainability.
But meaningful social value is not created by a report alone. It begins with the contribution itself.
A volunteering hour represents time given. Behind that hour may be a conversation, a shared experience, a new connection or an opportunity for someone to feel less alone.
These experiences are not always easy to express in financial terms, yet they can be among the most meaningful outcomes of community participation. Care to Volunteer aims to bridge that gap.
We make volunteering easy for employers and institutions to access, and we coordinate it end to end, while making visible the participation, community relationships and positive contributions their people help create.
This means recognising both what can be measured and what must be understood through human experience.
For organisations, that can provide a more meaningful foundation for CSR, ESG-related social objectives and social-value reporting. For communities, it means placing genuine human needs at the centre of the activity.
Because real social value is not just about what an organisation contributes. It is about what that contribution makes possible for people.
Looking ahead
Care to Volunteer is being built around a long-term vision: a future where giving time is easier, community connections are stronger, and organisations can play a more active role in creating positive social change.
We are at the beginning of that journey, guided by practical experience, a clear sense of purpose and a belief in what people can achieve together.
