Care to Volunteer is a non-profit organisation providing managed employee volunteering as a service to employers. We work with corporates and communities: designing the programme, onboarding your people, coordinating every visit, and verifying and reporting every hour. You receive credible, verified social value. We handle everything else.
Our journey
Care to Volunteer grew out of River Garden Home Care, a CQC-regulated home care provider supporting older people across London and Surrey. For years, its carers saw first-hand how loneliness was damaging residents' health, while families committed to work couldn't always be there. Care visits helped, but communities needed more than care visits. They needed neighbours.
So we created a model that turns employees into Buddii volunteers: people giving companionship and everyday help to older residents, from shared conversation to shopping, walks and games. The programme runs on a dedicated volunteer platform that handles invitations, bookings, approvals and verified activity records, with live dashboards for employers.
In our language, volunteers are Buddii and the older people they visit are residents.
How we are structured
The service provider
Care to Volunteer is the service provider. We are a non-profit organisation: our purpose is the mission, not the margin. Providing the service, managing delivery and linking employers with communities is what we do.
Our parent company
The idea was born at River Garden Home Care, a CQC-regulated home care provider supporting older people across London and Surrey. Care visits helped, but communities needed more than care visits. They needed neighbours. That insight became Care to Volunteer.
Our technology partner
Buddii is a separate commercial company that builds and operates the digital engine: the Buddii app for volunteers, the My Buddii app for residents, intelligent matching and live dashboards. Buddii partnered with us to develop this system, and its technology is licensed to the programme.
